The Advanced Training Workshop on Ecosystem-based Adaptation (EbA) in Arid Areas will be held from 10 to 21 October 2016 in Beijing. The Workshop is co-organized by UNEP-IEMP and the Chinese Ecosystem Research Network (CERN).

The main objective is to implement the capacity building initiatives announced by China’s President Xi Jinping during COP 21 in Paris last year. It aims to enhance participants’understanding of how scientific approaches and management strategies can help developing countries adapt to ecosystem changes in the context of climate change.

The Workshop is sponsored by the Climate Change Department, National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC) of China. It is open to an international group of public officials, researchers and practitioners, who embark on, or are already involved in ecosystem monitoring and management, ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) in arid areas.
