UN Environment will launch the Chinese version of sixth Global Environment Outlook Regional Assessment for Asia and the Pacific at the Boyue Beijing Hotel in Beijing, China.
The launch will be held in the presence of Mr Erik Solheim, Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations and Head of UN Environment. Mr Zhou Guomei, Co-Chair of the Regional Assessment and Jacqueline McGlade, Chief Scientist of UN Environment will introduce the key findings of the report and the regional and global processes. Leading Chinese experts of the report, representatives from the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Ministry of Environment Protection (MEP), P.R. China as well as Mr Wang Wenbiao, Standing Committee Member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference and Chairman of Elion Foundation will also attend the event.
UN Environment’s flagship report, sixth Global Environment Outlook Regional Assessment for Asia and the Pacific together with other five regional reports was launched in May 2016 at the Second United Nations Environment Assembly. The report is themed as “Healthy Planet, Healthy People” to align with the post-2030 development agenda and the SDGs to assess the state and trends of environment in the Asia-Pacific regions.
