Delegates from UNEP-IEMP participated in the TEEB for Agriculture & Food Global Symposium 2019 in Nairobi, Kenya

Prof. Linxiu Zhang, Director of UNEP- IEMP, was invited to participate in the TEEB (The Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity) for Agriculture & Food Global Symposium 2019. The symposium was held at the headquarters of UNEP in Nairobi, Kenya from 25th to 27th February 2019. Over 100 experts from 20 countries and UN Environment participated in the symposium. 

The main objective of the symposium is to share the experience and lessons learnt from two projects implemented by TEEB and provide a foundation for the coming project “Promoting a sustainable agriculture and food sector in Brazil, China, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Mexico, Thailand”. UNEP-IEMP is going to lead the implementation of the new project in China in coordination with UNEP Regional Office for Asia-Pacific and China office. Prof. Zhang shared information and experience about Chinese agriculture and food systems and prospected possible cooperation in the future. During the symposium, Prof. Zhang also discussed the details of project planning and implementation in China with the project management team. As Chinese project team members, Prof. Wenliang Wu from Chinese Agricultural University and Associate Professor Mingxing Sun from UNEP-IEMP also participated in the symposium.
