This article useslife cycle assessment method to calculate the carbon emissions of farmers’ crop planting, and explores the relationship between the scale of farmers’ land transfer-in, land operation scale and the carbon emissionsintensity of crop planting.

The main breakthrough point of promoting straw resource utilization in China is on staple crops. A life cycle assessment was conducted to identify the GHG emissions of the various crop straw utilization and treatment methods. The GHG emissions per unit area from the crop and household perspectives were also observed. Furthermore, the trend in GHG emissions from crop straw utilization and treatment was predicted through scenario simulation.

Chemical fertilizer overuse has resulted in serious agricultural pollution. farmland scale had a significant negative impact on the total nitrogen application rate from fertilizer and the nitrogen application rate from urea. the effect of farmland scale on the nitrogen application rate were different among groups with different crops, gender, age and education of head of household, and differences in proportion of farmland transfer.
